I grew up surrounded by animals and wild places— in the mountain ranges and deep forests of Switzerland, New England, and the Pacific Northwest. My childhood included horses, cats, dogs, raptors, and the occasional wild ungulate wandering into my path. That early connection to nature sparked a lifelong curiosity for biological and cultural evolution that led me to study Biology and Greek Archaeology at university, eventually earning both my Bachelor’s and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Tufts University. After an internship in equine medicine, I dove into the mixed-animal and emergency practice before settling into companion animal clinical work… mostly.

A career without borders, my path hasn’t been linear, and I’ve never fit neatly into one box. Over the years, I’ve been a clinician in high-acuity emergency rooms, an anatomy professor and lecturer shaping the next generation of veterinarians and scientists, a faunal remains specialist on an archaeological dig in Israel, a regulatory representative at the racetrack, a rodeo vet,  a content strategist, and a consultant for universities and private practices. And that's just my experience in medicine.

This diverse background taught me that whether I’m treating a patient, teaching medicine, science, how to safely handle a chainsaw, or writing a public health guide, the core skill is the same : translating complex ideas into clear, effective, and compassionate action.
I'm passionate about pain management, One Health, adventure pets, old dogs and all cats (no exceptions!)

When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll find me outside—usually on a mountain bike, surrounded by good friends, and happily out of cell service in the alpine altitudes. I believe in the restorative power of nature and the importance of disconnecting to recharge.

I'm eternally grateful for Low-stress handling techniques, well-designed software, delegation, diversity, waterproof membranes, helmets, random acts of kindness, and thoughtful airport baggage handlers.
